CAREFREE

Whew! 5th block exams are finally overrrrrrr!!!!!!! It was the most exhausting so far in my med life. At last, I'm back in the arms of my fashion, my blog, and my free time. I have at least a month to relax, sleep, and just be carefree!

Just like today's post, though at sight the outfit doesn't scream carefree - kinda looks like the opposite actually - with its dark palette and constricted feels, but really I feel as free as bird in this ensemble! The dress was slim but loose enough to allow me to breathe, the flats are the best so I wouldn't worry about having to balance on skytower heels, and the hair is braided to the side so I would stop fixing my hair in place every now and then. This is one of the outfits, I can say, would be the comfiest I've been.

But of course, we are not going out of the house without adding a few trinkets. Well actually, I just had one - this beautiful necklace my friend, Sharlyn Guvean, gave me!!! But it was all that I needed. I love how playful its is with all its metal fringe and the design itself is extravagant but very light on the neck. It isn't as heavy as it looks. It made me look like I did more effort on the outfit than I actually did.

So happy to write again and to edit photos and to publish another post. Oh how I've missed! Nevertheless, I'm happy to be in a place where I can pursue my life-long dream. In one month though, I'm back to the aroma of caffeine and to the kisses of sleepless nights. Hahaha!

BLANK CANVASS

BACKLOG OVERLOOOOAAADDD!!!

You know, medicine school, you get it.

This outfit is one of the comfiest I've worn. I'm telling you the heels from Charles & Keith themselves are the comfiest heels I've ever had in my life. I love the simple shirt and pants combo and the 'hair away from my face' look. Throughout the day, I was far away from my typical struggles of pulling my shirt down cause it's too short or constantly brushing my hair with my fingers so it stays in place or looking for a place to put down my hand bag just for 10 seconds to allow rest for my forearm. But but but!!! Despite the comfort and simplicity, you have to admit it looks stylish and trendy still!
Factors?
1. The sleek bun which are seen all over the runways
2. The cleanliness of the color white and the strategic positions of the color black, which gives the ensemble its image of power and strength
3. The minutes of red which completes the whole bland outfit

White and red or black and red will always be a great combo, remember that! So when in doubt, you know what to look for. If you don't have any red accessories... red lips will be your best friend!!!

TOUGH CHER

If you are a true 90s baby, you'd definitely know Cher Horowitz from the teenage flick Clueless, played by Alicia Silverstone. And when we're talking about Cher, of course the first thing that comes to mind would be her iconic yellow plaid blazer and skirt coordinates matched with white knee high socks! Any fashionista would die to have one of those heaven sent ensembles!!!

But since I am no Alicia Silverstone, I have put together an outfit that somehow resembles my peg for the day - only in a tougher context. Instead of coordinates, I decided to do a print on print using the staples black and white with a punch of red plaid (yes, the plaid is necessary). And instead of using adorable loafers, I have my trusty booties on!

So now do you get why it's "TOUGH CHER"? :>

WALKING IN A MONOTONE WORLD

[The last photo] Oh you know, just not concentrating while taking my outfit shots...

If you have seen my instagram images, you'd know that this was the ensemble I wore on our very first day in Taipei!!! And I will be blogging about our trip soooooon!

To establish contrast from the colorful backdrop of Taipei, I decided to don a full black and white outfit. What I really love about it is the polished and cohesive look. It could pass off in the office, don't you agree? Just not sure about the knee-length socks though; but if your buddies with the boss (or if you ARE the boss), then no problemo! As what I have observed, a pair of knee-high socks adds length to one's figure; and, I guess, most people would want an inch or so added to their height, so I dare you... You'll look taller, at the same time, confident and fab!!!
Also, try to look for dresses like this from Forever 21, it adds curves to any type of body because of the black coca-cola shaped panels. It gives the illusion of a exaggerated feminine body - which is definitely the summit of sexy!

Plus plus plus, what I can declare as my greatest bargain yet are these combat booties I bought in Ximending just beside our hotel!!! Guess how much? FIVE-HUNDRED PESOS (say 12-13 dollars?)!!! Talk about fabuloooooouuuuusssssss! :"> Btw, you will be seeing more of these boots in this blog because these are the shoes I wore for the 3-4 days I stayed in Taiwan. You can't blame me - I was super excited!!!

If you haven't followed me on instagram, please do @lykaatienzaaa :)

BRAZEN AND BARE

The weather app on my phone says we are currently experiencing 31 degress of heat in Manila; and as I scroll down to check the temperature of the coming days... to my horror, each day is just going to get hotter and hotter!!! Oh summer, I love you but I think you have to take it cool.

What better way is there to celebrate summer (and to compensate for the boiling heat) than wearing your hat of brazen and baring your sun-kissed skin! Summer is the time to be adventurous - challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone! Say highlighting your hair with flashing hot pink, or donning an ocean blue lip, or it could be as simple as exposing your tummy for the whole world to see. Hahaha! Life is too short to stay safe all the time. As my dad would always tell me "the brave die young, but the cautious never lived at all"

The bare tummy has taken home the bacon, don't you think? (noooo, I didn't mean I looked like I ate a pound of bacon, if that's what you're thinking) It has defined the wardrobe. Everything else is simple and sleek, no big accessories or drastic prints needed for someone to notice you in this kind of outfit. You'll look fresh, simple, and most of all, fun! You'd want to be dubbed as fun especially this season.

So go ahead enjoy summer! Don't be afraid of being brazen and baring out the true-exciting-you!

SWEETHEART

When I hear the words "America's sweetheart", this is the kind of outfit that comes to mind. A 'sweetheart' is literally someone with a sweet heart (duh!): someone who is all lovey doveys. To better play that character, hence, the choice of a skater skirt that moves with the wind, wedges for a softer image as compared to the powerful stiletto, and of course, a necklace with the word "love" on it (Come on, you ain't a sweetheart if you don't have this necklace, girl! Haha!). Yeah, you can say this was definitely inspired by "America's sweetheart" given the choice of palette - red, blue, and white!

My definite favorite of all these pieces is my top from Forever 21! It's actually designed like a one-piece swimsuit so you wouldn't have problems when you want your top tucked in. I just hate having to fix my tucked top every time I stand up or I sit down, so this was truly a convenience for me... except for the part when I have to go to the bathroom. Hahaha! And since it's the season of summer, where the temperature has completely risen, the low back design has to be given two thumbs up! What you thought was a normal shirt in front is given a different image from the back - both cute and sexy!

RED POX

Wondering why this post is titled as such. Weeeeell, let me give you a brief explanation: the ensemble is infused with just pops of red, just like chicken pox! Naaaaah, lame explanation. Hahaha!

If you have been reading this blog, you would be aware of all these pieces. I have worn them for a number of times already and they're all still alive and kicking until now. Just goes to show, how you should not waste a good piece of clothing; remember: REUSE, REDUCE, & RECYCLE!!!

Seeing this ensemble, what can you think of? Chickenpox? :> Kidding! When I combined these pieces together, the first thing I thought of were those mean popular girls in school back in the 90s. You know, with that skirt and those shoes? And maybe the sunglasses too. Just crop my smiling face, and you'll see it!... So can you? Hahaha! Okay, maybe not. But hey, that was my peg for the day and I think it worked out fine. What do you think? ;)

Remember, when in doubt of what to wear, just think of a character you want to portray. Be that person for a day, through your clothes, but always stay true to your style. Cause you are not you without your unique persona!
