APPLE PIE, MY LOVE?

Well hello, my dear. Merry Christmas, sweet pumpkin pie! :)

Don't you just love my prim look and my demure aura? It's as if I was the one who cleaned up my perfectly spotless home? *batts eyelashes*
This is my interpretation of a housewife from the 1950s decade where dirndl skirts are the leader of the pack, just like mine from Apartment 8. But to be more accurate, my inspiration were the ladies from the movie Stepford Wives starring Nicole Kidman! Have you seen this movie??

No?! Then you must see it!!! It's one of my favorite movies of all time!!! I am not exaggerating! It's on the comical side, a tiny bit on the romantic section, but definitely, a beautiful and colorful suspense movie. If you're into fashion, then you'll absolutely love the women's dresses! It's a major fashion reincarnation of the beauty of the 50s with the long skirts, gloves, and sun hats! I'm guessing that's why I also love it so much! If you're into suspense, then you'll be intrigued as to what is underneath the perfect vicinity known as Stepford. And if you just want a feel good movie (which I think it is), then you'll have a good laugh at this; I think the comic is witty and just right, not too exaggerated comedy. Just please, watch it!
And if you do watch it and you do not like it, please don't judge my taste. Hahaha!

Anyway, going back to fashiooon! My take on the home maker look is: number 1, a dirndl skirt! It's girly, fit for a wife, and it's long and loose which makes it easy for me to cook dinner! But mine has got a modern twist, its material is like leather which toughens up its girly appeal! Number 2, a 3/4 sleeve top, I don't know why but somehow when I think of a Stepford wife, I think of three-fourths. And number 3, gigantic jewelry - because their husbands love them so much, he buys her expensive stones like my ring and earrings from SM Accessories (btw, I adore these because they look like sea dollars! Who agrees??)

If you don't get what I am talking about here about my home maker/housewife/stay-at-home mom look, go watch Stepford Wives!!! You'll get a deeper understanding of my outfit... somehow. Hihihi!

What do you think of my look?

A STUDY IN PINK

To all the Sherlock fans out there, please give me this blessing to use the title of the first ever episode of Sherlock Holmes starring Benedict Cumberbatch - A Study in Pink.
Ever since a friend of mine introduced me to the world of Sherlock Holmes, which included a couple of squeals and fangirl moments towards Cumberbatch, I have been SHERLOCKED. (See what I did there? Hi Kriska!)

Anywaaaay, on to my outfit! I guess it's pretty obvious why I entitled this as such. No, it's not just the pants, but my top as well is pink, in the lightest shade of pink you'll ever see.
There is nothing wrong with wearing the same color for your top and bottom! It was even the "bomb" before our generation adopted print on print.

The trick here is to combine different shades of the same color so you wouldn't look too monotonous or too "that was so last season!" Plus, a pop of color never hurts! Especially if it's strawberry and mango. Mehehe! Get it? I'm wearing ice cream flavors... Oh, never mind.

And since I was aiming for sophistication that day, gold will always be the way! :)

HIPSTERISM

HIPSTERISM is defined as the way of life characteristic of hipsters.
The word is synonymous to coolness, fashionableness, hip, modishness, vougishness.

While a HIPSTER is said to be a person who is unusually aware of and interested in new and unconventional patterns (as in jazz or fashion).

Some of us associate a hipster as being a hippie. But dude, I have to tell you they are two very different things. A HIPPIE is usually a young person who rejects the mores of established society (as by dressing unconventionally or favoring communal living) and advocates a nonviolent ethic; broadly: a long haired unconventionally dressed young person.

Note: Source is from Merriam-Webster Dictionary

In present-day's lookbook: (based on my observation)
 A hippie is characterized by long beach hair, floral crowns/hippie bands, high-waist shorts, corsets/cropped tops, oversized kimonos/polos to cover up, and of course, the fringe.

Meanwhile, a hipster is more on tied up messy hair, flowy dresses, maxi skirts, cropped tops, well fitted jackets, loose tanks, and the round sunglasses.

HIPPIE ||| HIPSTER

There is a fine line between the two although most of the time is crossed, but both are similar in the areas of being unconventional and being head-turners! So don't be scared to let out your inner hippie/hipster.

HIPSTER ||| HIPPIE

See what I did there? Used the same cover up. I crossed the line. (smirk)
