BRAZEN AND BARE

The weather app on my phone says we are currently experiencing 31 degress of heat in Manila; and as I scroll down to check the temperature of the coming days... to my horror, each day is just going to get hotter and hotter!!! Oh summer, I love you but I think you have to take it cool.

What better way is there to celebrate summer (and to compensate for the boiling heat) than wearing your hat of brazen and baring your sun-kissed skin! Summer is the time to be adventurous - challenge yourself to step out of your comfort zone! Say highlighting your hair with flashing hot pink, or donning an ocean blue lip, or it could be as simple as exposing your tummy for the whole world to see. Hahaha! Life is too short to stay safe all the time. As my dad would always tell me "the brave die young, but the cautious never lived at all"

The bare tummy has taken home the bacon, don't you think? (noooo, I didn't mean I looked like I ate a pound of bacon, if that's what you're thinking) It has defined the wardrobe. Everything else is simple and sleek, no big accessories or drastic prints needed for someone to notice you in this kind of outfit. You'll look fresh, simple, and most of all, fun! You'd want to be dubbed as fun especially this season.

So go ahead enjoy summer! Don't be afraid of being brazen and baring out the true-exciting-you!

RUN BABY RUN

I look like I'm going to jog, don't I?
Or not.

If I were to join a fashion run, this is definitely what I'm wearing!
The top from Forever 21 is perfect with anything, it's so simple yet bold and sexy. The harem pants from SM RTW, are the most comfortable of all! Not skinny, not baggy, not too long, and definitely not short - it's comfort and chic in one! And the best part of all - COTTON!!! I believe it is the most comfortable and most versatile fabric there is!
The jacket from North Face is very functional, especially for our kind of unpredictable weather here in the Philippines. I was able to maximize this jacket cause it rained on the day I wore it. The hood can be tucked and hidden under the collar that's why you don't see it here. But it definitely kept me dry while walking in the rain.
And to top it all off, my black bedazzled cap from Club Princess!!! This was bought by my boyfriend during one of our dates. Thanks Juliano Lin!!! Who knew we'd be able to find this from Club Princess? Usually you'd find tiaras, furred fans, girly sleeping masks, and animal print slippers when you go to one of their shops. So I was shocked to find this! Well not really so, cause they also came in colors, magenta, turquoise, and gold hahaha! It's really the girliest shop I've been to! Anyway, back on to the cap - I love it cause it's edgy, on-trend, and sparkly - perfectly fits me!

But for a fashion run, I might have to take a second look on those heels from Primadonna. Though I love how it goes with the outfit, I wouldn't want to sprain an ankle or trip tragically during the run, right? Sineryoso ko talaga??

(Btw, don't you think my title is so old school. Well high school-old school!
Run baby run, don't ever look baaack.
They'll tear us apart if you give them the chance
Remember?)

THE EFFORT TO LOOK EFFORTLESS

Don't let the simplicity of it all fool you! Do you know how much time it took me to dress up into this??
Well I'm exaggerating my emotions (because I am a fast dresser) but let me just narrate briefly the happenings in my dressing room.

My focal point is my top! I had to choose among 3 pairs of pants and 2 pairs of shoes. Initially, I had piles of silver necklaces on but had to remove because  it was not flattering my body at all. I looked like I had an inch for a neck and that is definitely a no no! Length should always be evident!!! Even if you're 4 feet tall, you should always work for it because length is sexy! After, i had to rummage through my closet of bags to find the right match! On top of that, I still had to decide whether to put my hair down or to tie it. Whew! Boys, you don't know how tiring it is in a woman's dressing room!!! Although, I have to give two thumbs up for the fashown guys out there! Men's fashion is evolving!

Speaking of length, if you want to add a few inches to your body, remember! You can never go wrong with vertical stripes. And you see what I did here? My legs look really long (well I think they do) because of the illusion brought about by the black leather leggings and the black patent leather shoes. Of course, the heels also helped! Because of the same color, the eyes do not see the separation between the two, the line just goes on.

A look like this is always appealing because of the freshness and the light feel. You don't have chunky accessories weighing you down neither do you have too much prints for the eyes to explore. But it is not easy to get it right, you also need a percentage of effort to look fashionably effortless.

Oh and there's my photographer trying to get a beautiful photo of what's down there.

MIXOLOGY

In this day and age, people have been experimenting on different patterns, like stripes to polka dots, zebra print to leopard print, or florals to even more florals. As for me, it's stripes to ruffles to polka dots to animal print and to metal!
What made this ensemble work is the choice of colors. Blue for the top and skirt while yellow, which complements blue, for the bag and a few details on the socks (I hope you can see some yellow polka dots on the socks! hehe). Then, partnered them with black and metal accessories so as to maintain the organization of the outfit. It's hard to look at something that's so messed up, right?

Sunglasses: Nava | Top: Ensembles | Skirt: from Bangkok | Silver bracelet: The Ramp | Feather connector ring: Forever 21 | Insect ring: Yhansy | Bag: Pill | Socks: Bench | Shoes: People Are People
